Mr. True is a named partner with the firm. He concentrates his practice in the areas of white collar criminal defense, complex civil litigation, administrative law, plaintiff's personal injury, products liability and medical negligence, as well as other complex litigation in federal and state court.

Mr. True is admitted before all state and federal courts in Kentucky, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Bar Foundation. Mr. True recently served on the Task Force on the Penal Code and Controlled Substances Act appointed by the Kentucky General Assembly.

Mr. True is recognized in several areas of practice by the publication The Best Lawyers in America and was recognized by that publication as Lawyer of the Year for 2013. Mr. Guarnieri is a named partner with the firm. Ms. Lawson is an associate attorney with the firm. Her practice is concentrated in the areas of criminal law, civil law, domestic relations, administrative law and personal injury. Ms. Lawson is admitted to practice before all state and federal court in the state of Kentucky.

Ms. Lawson obtained her Bachelor of Arts from Transylvania University in 2007, graduating cum laude. She attended University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor in 2011. While studying at University of Louisville Law School, Ms. Lawson was a member of many organizations, including University of Louisville Law Review, University of Louisville Moot Court Board and University of Louisville Women's Law Caucus. She also participated in a number of moot court competitions, including the University of Louisville's First-Year Oral Argument Competition, the Pirtle-Washer Oral Argument Competition (Semi-Finalist, 2011), the Mardi Gras Sports Law Invitational Competition and the Saul LefkowitzTrademark Moot Court Competition. It was in her final year at University of Louisville that Ms. Lawson competed in the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition, winning this competition at both the regional and national level.

Philip C. Lawson
 
Philip graduated from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky with a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Government. While at Centre College, he was a member of the Varsity Baseball and Golf Teams while being an active member of his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. After a summer internship in the Washington, D.C. office of former United States Representative, A.B. (“Ben”) Chandler, III between his junior and senior year, Philip decided to follow in his parent’s footsteps (W. Henry Lawson, Esq. & Susan C. Lawson, Esq.) and pursue a career as a lawyer. At the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, Philip was an active member of the Moot Court Board and UofL’s Kentucky Intrastate Mock Trial Team. Philip also clerked for mid-size firm in Louisville, Kentucky in the areas of state criminal defense, federal criminal defense, and insurance defense. Furthermore, during law school, Philip was honored to serve as a law clerk under Chief Judge Hon. Sara W. Combs of the Kentucky Court of Appeals in Frankfort, Kentucky.
After law school, Philip moved to Frankfort, Kentucky with his wife, Whitney True Lawson, and became a Trial Attorney with the Department of Public Advocacy in the Frankfort, Kentucky office. As a Trial Attorney, Philip represented hundreds of clients in over a thousand cases ranging from minor traffic infractions and DUI’s in District Court to serious felonies in Circuit Court. Philip also represented clients in Juvenile Court and Family Court.
In 2013, Philip joined a large statewide firm in Lexington, Kentucky. During his four years in Lexington, Philip continued to practice extensively in state law criminal defense. He also expanded his practice area to include federal criminal defense, insurance defense, personal injury, family law, and complex civil litigation such as real estate litigation, business litigation, and administrative litigation.
 
In 2017, Philip moved to True, Guarnieri & Ayer, LLP in Frankfort, Kentucky. Philip continues to represent clients in state law criminal defense, federal criminal defense, personal injury, family law, and complex civil litigation in Frankfort, Kentucky and throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Outside of his law practice, Philip is an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Frankfort, Kentucky where he is a member of the Permanent Endowment Committee. He enjoys spending time with his wife and his two-year old son (Henry), playing golf and basketball, duck hunting, and following University of Kentucky athletics.
